People with diabetes need extra care for their feet

People who suffer from diabetes need to take extra great care of their feet or else bad things can happen. According to an article, 60 to 70 percent of people with diabetes have nerve damage, which hinders them from feeling sensation on their skin. This is the reason why it is very important for those with the disease to check the health of their feet on a day to day basis. It is vital to check circulation, flexibility, pain, and sensation in your feet. If you happen to have a cut or blister and let it go unnoticed, this wound can become infected and could cause a worst case scenario amputation. Get your toes moving, touch all around your feet to see if you have equal sensation and see if you are experiencing any pain. Check your toe nails too. Are they a normal color? If they aren’t this could be the cause of poor circulation. Diabetes is becoming more common place in today’s world, but it should be taken very seriously especially when considering the health of your feet.
